The core question of the project TeKaVe - Technology-neutral capacity mechanisms for a secure energy future is whether the current market system in Austria (energy-only market) is capable of maintaining a secure energy system while simultaneously achieving Austria’s decarbonization targets.

The project transpAIrent.energy – Transparent AI Forecasts for Green Energy in Austria aims to generate probabilistic real-time forecasts for energy system-relevant variables such as electricity prices and CO2 intensities in Austria using generative AI methods, and to develop a transparent platform that makes these forecasts publicly accessible.

As part of tasks T2.2 and T2.4 in the project transpAIrent.energy, we developed an open-source data pipeline for collecting, preprocessing, and quality-checking energy system data. The pipeline continuously ingests data from public APIs, processes it into a standardized bi-temporal database, and applies automated quality validation. All components - source code, pipeline configurations, and data quality results - are published under a permissive license.

The project SETHub - Smart Energy Transformation Hub aims at a comprehensive analysis of the grid-supportive use of electrolysers and was carried out at selected sites in Styria. The objective was to analyse the regulatory framework and to assess the role of grid-supportive operation of electrolysers in increasing the hosting capacity of distribution grids for renewable generation capacities. The economic evaluation of the grid-supportive use of electrolysers is enabled through a techno-economic modelling of electrolysers in the distribution grid.

The Merit Order determines the sequence in which power plants are used for electricity generation. This article provides insight into how this order influences electricity prices and the role different energy sources play in the process.
